IDEA Scholar Publishes Debut Novel at Twelve Years Old

We want to congratulate an IDEA scholar for an amazing literary achievement.  Raul Ceron Garcia, 8th grader at IDEA College Preparatory Donna, just published his first book.  That’s right, you heard correctly—Raul is just 12 years old, and is already a published author!

Rocio Garcia Lara, Raul’s mother, said this of her amazing son: “Raul is a natural writer.  At the age of 6 years old, he came to me with a construction-paper book about an intergalactic adventure.  Then he wrote a second book, a sequel to the first one. Then came the third, inspired in the Sequoias of Yosemite National Park.  Now, his fourth, is published!”

Speaking to the support of IDEA, Rocio also noted that Raul received much encouragement from his IDEA educators.  Go Home is now sold at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and other online book vendors.  To learn more and purchase the debut, click here.

“We have had some presentations of the book, readings and autograph signings, and have sold some copies in person and on line,” said Rocio.  “In Raul’s presentations, children engage with the story and get very inspired.  The experience makes students believe that they can be a writer too.”

Way to go, Raul!
