IDEA Public Schools Celebrates National School Choice Week

This week, January 22-28, marks National School Choice Week.  The goal of National School Choice Week (NCSW) is to raise public awareness of education options for children, and IDEA is proud to participate.

As a public charter school system, IDEA emphasizes how important educational choice is for families who want their child to attend a great school.  Whether its traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, online learning, private schools, or homeschooling—the goal is always the same in IDEA’s eyes—providing an exceptional education to children so they have the opportunity to succeed.  If you’re in search of a high-quality education for your child, apply now for the 2017-2018 school year.

About National School Choice Week

Started in 2011, NSCW has grown into the world’s largest celebration of opportunity in education. The Week is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort. All Americans are welcome to get involved and to have their voices heard!

NSCW 2016 was the largest series of education-related events in US history and featured 16,745 total events across all 50 states.  13,224 schools of all types held events to commemorate the celebration, including IDEA campuses.  Check out this celebration at IDEA Walzem in San Antonio, Texas last year!

This Year’s Events

National School Choice Week is encouraging schools, community members, and organizations to hold positive events that celebrate educational options and draw attention to the need for even greater opportunities for children.  Among many events across the organization, IDEA Austin students and staff of IDEA Allan, IDEA Rundberg, and IDEA Bluff Springs campuses plan to participate in an educational rally at the Capitol building to show their support for expanding school choice.  More than 4,000 members of the community are expected to attend, including Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick.  These government leaders will speak in favor of expanding school choice options along with a host of parents, students, educators, and elected officials.

There’s plenty more amazing happenings going on this week around IDEA Public Schools across the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Austin.  Be sure to check out all we’re doing to raise awareness for educational choice on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages this week!
