IDEA Public Schools Achieves 100 Percent College Acceptance for Eleven Consecutive Years
Several Students Accepted to Prestigious and Highly-Selective Universities
RIO GRANDE VALLEY (February 22, 2017) – IDEA Public Schools is proud to announce that 100 percent of the Class of 2017 have been accepted to college. IDEA continues its legacy of college matriculation and reached this milestone with its largest senior class ever. In total, more than 670 seniors at IDEA have applied to a minimum of six colleges or universities, to date. Acceptances range from local and state schools like Texas A&M University and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley to prestigious and highly-selective schools like Brown University and Columbia University.
Michael Mireles, a senior at IDEA Quest was recently accepted to Brown University and recognized as a Bezos Scholar. Michael was raised by his grandparents, and it has always been his dream to attend Brown so he can make his grandparents proud. You can learn more about Michael’s story here.
“One of the things that IDEA provided me with is a support network—people to actually tell me this is what you need to do in order to accomplish what you want to do,” Michael said. “At this moment, through everything I’ve accomplished, I’ve never felt more proud of who I am.”
College for All Children is made possible by IDEA’s innovative programs and college-going culture. IDEA’s College Support Model provides students with a wide range of services and support before and after they get accepted to college.
To culminate senior year, IDEA will host its annual College Signing Day events April 26-28. At this event, seniors will be recognized for their multiple college acceptances and reveal their final college selection to their peers, their teachers, administration, family and friends.
