IDEA Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Tres Lagos Campus

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, we celebrated the opening of our newest campus, IDEA Tres Lagos Academy and College Preparatory, with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. IDEA Tres Lagos is one of two new campuses that opened its doors in the Rio Grande Valley this August. At the ceremony, the campus was dedicated to Mike and Lori Rhodes, who have supported IDEA’s growth in the Rio Grande Valley throughout the years with generous donations.  We thank Mike and Lori for their continued support!

IDEA Tres Lagos is located in McAllen, Texas, serving a total of 497 students in Pre-K through 1st and 6th grade. The Academy and College Preparatory schools are led by Principals Benigna Carcano and Megan Arenas-Goossen, respectively. Carcano and Arenas-Goosen both understand the importance of a college education and are confident they can help ensure more students are prepared to succeed in college and life.

Notable attendees at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony included Tom Torkelson, CEO and founder of IDEA Public Schools, Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, District 20, and Mike and Lori Rhodes, IDEA supporters and founders of Rhodes Enterprises, Inc.

Fatima Gomez, 6th grader at IDEA Tres Lagos and speaker at the event, said this of her time so far at IDEA: “Here at IDEA, my classmates and I are what we like to call, 'college ready.'  Yes, I might only be in 6th grade, but I have a plan, and IDEA will help me get there.  When I graduate from high school in 2024, I want to go to Harvard University and study to be a music teacher.”

Congratulations to Los Lobos at IDEA Tres Lagos!
