Five IDEA Schools Designated as T-STEM by the TEA
Congratulations are in order for five IDEA schools that were recently designated as T-STEM (Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) schools by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
IDEA College Prep Alamo, IDEA College Prep San Benito, IDEA College Prep Mission, IDEA College Prep San Juan, and IDEA College Prep Edinburg received this designation for the 2017-18 school year.
The TEA, awards the T-STEM designation to rigorous secondary schools that focus on improving instruction and academic performance in science and mathematics-related subjects and increasing the number of students who study and enter STEM careers. T-STEM Academies are demonstration schools and learning labs that develop innovative methods to improve science and mathematics instructions.
Only 121 schools hold this designation in the state of Texas, and 26 schools received this designation in the Rio Grande Valley. T-STEM campuses are designated based on a rigorous designation process. Once a campus is designated, they receive professional development and technical assistance to serve as demonstration schools and learning labs to showcase innovative instruction methods which integrate technology and engineering into science and mathematics instruction.
Each of these campuses further illustrate IDEA’s commitment to providing rigorous curricula and STEM opportunities to ensure all of our scholars are prepared on the road to and through college.
