Students must be accepted to a four-year college or university in order to graduate from high school.
- The staff at IDEA is guided by our mission to cultivate educational excellence within underserved communities.
- All teachers are given a laptop to help plan daily lessons and a school-issued mobile phone in order to communicate with students and parents.
- IDEA lets students out at 2:00 p.m. on Fridays to offer teachers three hours of intensive professional development and collaboration.
- Inspire students to do well, so that they may return to their community and give back.

IDEA Public Schools expects to hire 130 more teachers for the 2010-2011 school year by June 1st and our hiring season has officially begun.
We are looking for teachers with a proven track record of success. For current teachers, this means student achievement results. Although we give preference to teachers with experience, we are also interested in newly-certified teachers who can demonstrate results from their academic career or a previous job.
In order to be considered for employment, you need to have submitted an online application after December 2009. Applications submitted before December 2009 have been deactivated and need to be re-submitted via School Recruiter. Click here to apply now.
After submitting your application, IDEA’s recruitment team will review your application and contact qualified candidates for a phone interview. After the phone interview, selected candidates will interview with an IDEA principal. Principals may also ask to observe candidates while they are teaching or to have candidates come and teach a sample lesson at an IDEA school.
While not all schools have known vacancies for 2010-2011 at this time, we do need to hire 70 teachers for expansion grades and can make offers immediately. Schools that do not currently have openings for next year will make offers as additional vacancies for next year become known later in the spring.
If you have questions about the teacher hiring process, please contact Rebecca Jeffries at (956) 373-8942 or rebecca.jeffries@ideapublicschools.org.
