Registration Details

Participants may register one of two ways:

1) Online Registration
Participants may register online through Mid-Valley Events.  Online registration will close at 11:59pm on Thursday, February 27th, 2014.
(Please note: Mid-Valley Events does charge a small user fee for registering online).  

2) Paper Registration
Participants may download the paper registration form from here. All paper registration forms must be postmarked by Friday, February 21st.  Paper forms should be mailed to the following address:

3) Late Registration
Late registration will be available the morning of the race from 7:30am-8:30am near the race start line.  Event fees increase by $5 on the day of the event.  (The 5K event will be $25, however the 1K Fun Run will still be $10 on the day of the event.  The group rate is not available on the day of the event).
 

Race Fees

  • 5K Run/Walk:  $20
  • 5K Group Rate: $15/person*
  • 1K Kids Fun Run:  $10 (Children under 5 are free)
  • Health Fair:  FREE ADMISSION
*Available only for groups (5 or more participants) who register in advance. Group rate not available for participants who register the day of the event. Each team member must complete an individual registration form and the coach or team leader must mail all of the registration forms and fees in together.
 

Packet Pick Up

Packet pick-up will be available on Friday, February 28th from 5pm-7pm at IDEA's main office in Weslaco.  (Address:  505 Angelita Drive, Suite 9, Weslaco, TX 78596).  Individuals may register for the race at this time at the normal rate.

Packet pick-up will also be available the morning of the race from 7:30am-8:30am near the race start

Location
The race will begin and end inside Hilltop Gardens. A detailed map of the race course is provided here.

Directions and Parking
For turn-by-turn directions click here. Free parking will be available on race day, just follow our signs and ask our volunteers for details of where to park and where to go for the start of the race.
 
Timing and Awards
We will be using a digital clock and race cards. Awards will be given to the Top 3 male and female 5K finishers. All 1K participants will receive a finisher's medal.

Shirts and Capes (Yes Capes)
The first 300 runners registered will receive a dry fit T-shirt courtesy of Trophy Plus.  The first 125 children to sign up will receive a superhero cape. Check them out here.  We will have the masks and armbands available for sale for $5 to complete the superhero look.  Since our t-shirt orders have to be made 2 weeks prior to the race there can be no complete guarantee of exact size if you sign up after 2/15/14.
 
Restrooms
Restrooms will be provided at the race location.

Water Stops & Refreshments
There will be two water stops along the race course.  Water will also be available for all participants and spectators at the race finish.  Refreshments (such as fruit, granola bars, etc) will be available at the end of the race as well.  In addition, Hilltop will be providing a small menu for participants and families to come out.  You can view the menu here.
 
Notice About Pets and Strollers
Strollers are welcome at this event. The race does have a portion that is on caliche and grass.  We love pets but we cannot have them at the race.  We apologize.
 
Inclement Weather
In case of rain or other inclement weather, please check the local weather station. If we are forced to cancel the race we will do so by 7:30am on March 1st, 2014 through an email blast and/or social media posting.
 
Hilltop Garden Events  
Hilltop Garden will also be offering events such as garden tours, gift store, local artisan fair, and master gardner seminar. Here you will find the schedule for all of Saturday's events. here

Health Fair

The health fair is free and open to the entire community.  It will run from approximately 9:00am-11:00am.For organizations interested in participating in the health fair, please contact Elizabeth Gutierrez. A list of participating organizations is coming soon!
 

Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering to help with the race, water stations, or health fair, please contact Justin Tuley. (Students can receive credit toward their volunteer hour requirement for helping with this event).  All volunteers will receive a special volunteer race shirt.
